STV reports:
An initiative aimed at helping people suffering from mental health problems by getting them cycling has been launched in Dundee.
NHS Tayside, the Dundee Association for Mental Health and the Scottish Association for Mental Health are working in partnership with Dundee Travel Active to promote the programme.
The Get Active - On Yir Bike initiative aims to incorporate physical exercise with the opportunity for participants to build up positive social networks which organisers believe are important in promoting mental wellbeing and recovery.
Cycling initiative launched to help with mental health problems
The cycling group meet on Tuesdays and Fridays at for two hours in the city’s Camperdown Park.
Sue Black, project manager, said: "So far 20 people are involved and the benefits have been wide-ranging for different individuals and perhaps not always benefits which we'd expect to see. Some have had the satisfaction of learning something new or rediscovering something they did when they were young.
"There are many more potential cyclists out there and we want to help them to take the first steps towards an activity that will improve their health and be fun."
