The Waltham Forest Guardian reports:
RUBBISH collectors are mixing recycling with normal refuse, according to reports.
A new system, which involves using one truck to collect all rubbish, has been hit by teething problems since its introduction on Monday October 3.
Hundreds of homes have been left with rubbish uncollected for a number of days after new vehicles broke down and staff were said to be “getting used” to the new system.
The Guardian has now received a number of reports that collectors may be mixing up recycling with waste destined for landfill.
A photo taken today by this newspaper appears to show the contents of green recycling bins being emptied into the same section as normal refuse.
The council has apologised for the problems.
