In May I wrote about concerns over press freedom in Yemen. Al Shoura editor Abdelkarim Al-Khaiwani has now been sentenced to six years in prison by the Yemeni State Security Court for writing about the war in Sa'ada province. This sentence has been condemned by Article 19.
In 2004, Al-Khaiwani was sentenced to one year in prison for alleged publication of false news, insulting the President, incitement and causing sectarian discrimination.
